My teaching game plan in drawing kawaii with simple shapes
Hi! It has been a while. Thank you for finding my treehouse blog. I appreciate you for your visit.
To make more sense of how we are going to tackle drawing kawaii with simple shapes, I will make photos and descriptions of the drawings in two main base layer sections. Which is labeled sections 1 & 2. Each section has three shapes related to each other. For example, circles. We can tweak around to add other shapes on what looks good on the three drawings in that section. Lastly, we will come up with other shapes of the last remaining main section 2 of a different shape. Also, repeating the process of adding elements on what's looks good for the rest of this tutorial.
Almost like putting toppings on a pizza. Hmmm, hungry?! We LAYER it.
Stay tuned it is going to be quite a challenge because it is not a video. On my end, I will present it to the best of my ability on the outcome of the layered elements we are going to be drawing by adding descriptions. I hope that makes sense.
After all, this is just inspiration for you to make it your own kind of kawaii design "How To Draw Kawaii With Simple Shapes" article's goal is just that. Beginner's style.

How To Draw Kawaii With Simple Shapes
Okay, let's start.
So, here we have section 1 with the base layer of circles.
And layer 2 has elements added. Examples are:
- Little girl's pigtails -A
- A bear's face with mouth outline and half "C's" for the ears -B
- A boy's hair and ears with squigly lines for the inside if the ears -C
And what do we have for layer 3?
- Strand lines for the hair and filled in circles for eyes, a blank circle nose, and a horizontal "C" shape mouth. -A
- The filled in eyes. Inside the outline of the mouth is a blank circle nose connected with two tails like a short moustache. -B
- Filled in eyes. An "L" shape for the nose, and a smile line with a pacifier for the middle for the mouth. For the baby. -C
These are the final look. Are they cute?
Section 2 of kawaii drawings
We have 3 triangles one with peak points and two with blunt points.
We can?…. Do this next.
Layer 2 are these additions.
- Shape A- We can add squiggly lines and curly cues. Like rice shape sillhouette.
- Shape B- I added an upside down trangle to it. Guess what it is?
- Shape C- We can also add other elements not correlating to the shape like a rectangular plate.
Layer 3 is the finale!
- Shape A- we got the eyes and nose and mouth and the colors of the sesame seeds and seaweed flakes.
- B- if you guessed kite you are right.
- C- we got marshmallows. On a dish kawaii style.
I hope you have fun reading this easy tutorial. With much more practice in time, you will improve to better more intermediate drawings. However, though it might look kiddish, it will be the stepping stone to practicing basic shapes and making them kawaii. Kawaii means cute. In the meantime, why not be kiddish and cute on practicing the basic shapes?
Later on, with my would-be scheduled articles, I will make a tutorial on how and where you can get inspiration from your drawings.
We are going to practice the basic kawaii shapes
Does this tutorial make sense? Please tell me with your comment below. As much as I can set an example of how we can easily just make layered shapes that can become a kawaii character. What is your drawing like when you start to read my tutorial? There are plenty of advanced illustrators out there and I will say I can start my journey too as long as I start now. Even with these kawaii simple shapes.
My shop BJRShop is open now. I have stickers, notecards, notebooks, and other party supplies. Including in my selection for purchase are hand-made scrunchies. ππΈ LINK HERE πΈπ
